Expert Planting Services

Most plant failures in Ottawa come down to two things: wrong plant for the location, and poor planting technique. We handle species selection, placement, and installation with long-term establishment in mind — assessing soil, drainage, sun exposure, and mature size before anything goes in the ground. Whether you are starting a new bed from scratch or filling in gaps in an existing landscape, we work across Nepean, Barrhaven, Kanata, Manotick, and Riverside South to get plants in the right spot with the right preparation behind them.

Tree Planting

Tree Planting

A tree planted too deep, too shallow, or in the wrong location will struggle for years before the problem becomes obvious. In Ottawa's clay soils, planting depth and drainage are especially important — trees planted into poorly draining ground develop root rot long before the canopy shows any sign of it. We assess your site conditions before recommending species, factor in mature size and root spread relative to structures and utilities, and plant using proper technique: backfill without amendments that create a moisture barrier, correct staking where needed, and a mulch ring that protects the root zone without smothering the trunk. We also walk you through what the tree needs in its first two seasons to establish properly.

Shrub Planting

Shrubs are the backbone of most Ottawa residential gardens, but they are also the most commonly misplanted element — crammed too close to foundations, placed in the wrong light conditions, or chosen for how they look at the nursery rather than at maturity. We select species that suit your site's actual conditions: soil drainage, sun exposure, and available space at full size. Groupings are designed for seasonal progression, with a mix of flowering and evergreen varieties that provide interest across the full growing season rather than two weeks of bloom and nothing else. Every shrub goes in with soil amendment where needed and a proper mulch layer to retain moisture through Ottawa's dry summers.

Perennial and Annual Planting

Perennial and Annual Planting

A well-planted perennial bed sequences bloom from early spring through to hard frost — but that kind of layered, sustained colour doesn't happen by accident. We plan combinations around bloom time, height progression, and soil compatibility so beds look intentional through the whole season, not just during the two or three weeks when everything peaks at once. For clients who want consistent colour without the planning overhead, we also handle annual rotations: selecting varieties suited to your specific light and soil conditions and swapping them out as the season progresses. All plantings include proper bed preparation and soil amendment to give new plants the best possible start in Ottawa's challenging growing conditions.
